Workspace & your work
After your join request is accepted, the project workspace is where you collaborate: overview, team, tasks, updates, and documents.
Direct entry is usually Workspace on a project you belong to, or from My project tasks → Open Workspace / Open Task.
You must be signed in. If you open a workspace URL without being a member, you may see a read-only note and will need to join the project to collaborate on tasks.
Workspace tabs#
Under Manage & Collaborate you typically see:
| Tab | What members use it for |
|---|---|
| Overview | Project summary and overall progress |
| Members | Team roster (names, roles, status); Leave project when you need to step away |
| Tasks | Your work (or the full board when the project allows team visibility) — update status, log time, comment when allowed |
| Updates | Team feed; post when your role allows; optionally link a post to task codes like T203 |
| Documents | Shared files for the project |
As a regular member you usually only see tasks and subtasks assigned to you. You can change status and log or remove your time on that work. Coordinators organise the broader board and members.
Some small projects are started from an admin template. Those may show a compact System Controlled mark when schedule/roster stay admin-managed. If the template (or admin) enables team task visibility, you can see all tasks and others’ progress, but you still only update and log time on your assignments. On those projects, overall progress rises automatically as tasks are marked Done. Each main task shows a code such as T203.
If you are marked as a viewer, you may be told that viewers cannot log time—ask a coordinator to change your project role to Member if you need to contribute hours.
Your tasks across projects#
- Open My project tasks from the account menu, or Your tasks → All tasks on My Dashboard.
- Review Parent tasks and Subtasks (columns such as Task, Project, Status, Priority, Due).
- Use Open Workspace or Open Task to jump into the right project.
Statuses you may see: To Do, In Progress, Blocked, Done. Priorities: Low, Normal, High, Urgent.
Empty state: you do not have assigned project tasks yet—browse Projects and join one that is open to contributors.
Updates#
- Read the feed on the Updates tab.
- Chips such as Public / Members show who can see an update.
- When allowed, use Post update / Post an update, optionally Visible to public, then Save update.
- You may optionally tick related task codes (for example T203) so the feed shows which step the update addresses. You can also post with no task selected.
If you cannot post, you can still read: only members and coordinators with posting rights can add updates.
Documents#
- Browse documents on the Documents tab; filter by category when filters appear (All, Uncategorized, and named categories).
- Members who can contribute may Add document.
- Some uploads are private to the uploader and document managers—you will not see others’ private files.
Members tab & leaving#
- Open Members to see who is on the project (listed / active counts when shown).
- To leave: Leave project, confirm when asked (You will lose workspace access.).
- After leaving you return to the projects list; you can request to join again later if the project is still open.
You generally cannot leave if you are the only active coordinator—hand off or contact the team first.
Practical day-to-day process#
- Check Your tasks / My project tasks for due work.
- Open the task in Workspace → Tasks.
- Set status (for example In Progress → Done), Log time when you worked, and add a short comment if useful.
- Skim Updates so you stay aligned with the team.
- Use Documents for shared files; use Messages for private 1:1 talk with a teammate.
