Join online (Zoom, Meet, X Space)

Use this guide when an event shows an Online badge and join buttons on the event page banner.

Before the start#

  1. Confirm your time zone under Account settings so the listed start and unlock times match your local clock.
  2. Open the event from Events.
  3. If Join needs an RSVP, choose Attending or Interested (not Can't attend). See Events & RSVP.
  4. Keep the event page open, or come back a few minutes before the unlock time.

Early unlock (for example 3 or 15 minutes)#

Organisers can set Unlock Join early (minutes before the official start). Example: 3 means Join becomes available 3 minutes before the listed start time; 15 means 15 minutes early; 0 means Join unlocks exactly at start (maximum early unlock is 180 minutes).

What you see while waiting:

  • Text like Join buttons will enable when the event starts.
  • A time next to that note (for example 20 Oct · 18:57) — that time is the real unlock moment, including any early minutes.

What to do:

  1. RSVP Attending or Interested if required.
  2. Watch the unlock time on the banner (not only the headline start time).
  3. When that time arrives, the live Join … buttons appear—click the one you need.
  4. If buttons stay grey, refresh the page once the unlock time has passed.

When Join is live#

  1. On the event page banner, click the button that matches how you want to join:

  1. Allow the new tab if your browser asks about pop-ups.
  2. Sign into Zoom / Google / X if that service asks you to.

An event can show more than one button. All of them unlock and lock together. Use any that works for you.

After the session ends#

Join buttons disappear when the live window closes (at the event end time, or a few hours after start if no end was set). They do not stay locked forever—they are removed from the page.

Then use Watch recording if a recording is published.

If Join stays locked or missing#

Message you may see What it usually means What to do

Also check:

  1. You are on the correct event page and the event is not cancelled or already completed.
  2. Your RSVP is not Can't attend if RSVP is required for Join.
  3. Pop-ups are allowed after you click Join.
